Active recall is a study technique which actively stimulates memory during the learning process. Active recall focuses on information retrieval, a key component of building strong connections in your long term memory. Research has found that it is the quickest, most efficient and effective way to study.
In 2008, researchers from Purdue found that students who used active recall were able to remember 54% more than students who engaged in passive review.
A 19th century psychologist discovered that humans memory reduces by half in a matter of days or weeks unless they consciously review the new material. He visualized this in a well known graph called the “forgetting curve”.
Many scientists since have discovered that a technique called ‘spaced repetition’ alongside active recall flattens the forgetting curve. Prodeus leverages spaced repetition to mitigate the forgetting curve and ensure important information is never lost over time.
A recent study from Johns Hopkins University found that making slight changes during repeat study sessions nearly doubles the speed at which students can master new skills.
Save all your favorite Youtube videos, web pages, and quizzes inside custom learning paths. As you organize your pathway, adding important notes and conversations, your pathways automatically takes the form of a course.
Come back to your course later to refresh your memory or share it with new learners trying to master the same skill.
